No to Rezoning

More than 300 residents have rallied to try to stop construction of a new apartment complex that will soon be brought before the City of Thomaston’s Planning and Zoning Commission.

The proposed complex would be located on Veterans Drive and back up to the Hill Street area neighborhood. The property will have to be rezoned from R1 (residential single family - low density) to MR (multifamily residential) before construction can begin.

The request from Pfotzer Properties, out of Marietta, is for a proposed gated apartment complex development with 180 units on 12.5 acres.

Great article! I agree & oppose rezoning in this low density neighborhood. There are much better areas north of town that would be better for residents of the apts closer to shopping, jobs & activities and have sidewalks & infrastructure to handle so many people & traffic.
