Tyson Terrell Holmes of Triune Avenue in Thomaston was arrested and charged with five felony drug counts following an attempted traffic stop and foot chase last week, according to reports from Thomaston Police Department and Upson County Sheriff’s Office.

Holmes, who had multiple outstanding warrants out of Upson and Lamar Counties, pulled into a parking spot on Adams Street and quickly exited the vehicle, pursued on foot by TPD personnel. He was caught and taken into custody behind a residence on Fourth Avenue, the report stated.

TPD witnessed Holmes throw a small bag into a wooded area during the chase, which officers located when Holmes was in custody. The bag contained 84 grams of suspected marijuana, and a search of the vehicle uncovered a digital scale, individual plastic bags, and $864 cash in small denominations, consistent with narcotic sales, according to the TPD report.

In addition to four counts related to purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of marijuana, Holmes was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a UCSO report.

Other, unrelated charges reported by UCSO include the following:

Michelle Rose Cook, two counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers;

Tyan Malik Gray, criminal street gang activity;

Clifford T. Ross, illegal possession of a controlled substance and possession of ecstasy;

Daquairus Desmond Lilly, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon;

Jontai Kahri Austin, interference with custody.
