A 14-year-old male was bitten by a coyote in a neighborhood in western Upson County on Thanksgiving Day, according to a report from Upson County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. at a residence on Sandy Brook Circle, a neighborhood off Burkett Road near its intersection with Pickard Road.
While cleaning the garage, the juvenile extended his left hand outside the door to pour a Coca-Cola onto the ground, the report stated. The coyote bit his hand and would not release until forcibly removed and hit in the head with a nearby pipe. The boy’s father shot and killed the coyote.
An emergency room physician at Upson Regional Medical Center told UCSO Sgt. Derric Pearson the juvenile would be treated for rabies. The coyote was removed by animal control, according to the report.
