Three counterfeit $100 bills were used to purchase electronics at Walmart last week, according to a Thomaston Police Department report.
Walmart security said a “tall, black male with medium length dreads with blond or red highlights” bought a Google home speaker set of three valued at approximately $239 with the three counterfeit bills, then received $61 in change, the report stated.
There is clear video footage of the suspect, according to security, but not of the suspect’s vehicle.
Also being investigated is a financial transaction card theft in which almost $2,000 in fraudulent transactions at Quality Inn in Thomaston were charged to a Wisconsin woman who told TPD she “has never been to or heard of Thomaston, Ga.”
The clerk at Quality Inn said the car was on file under the name Timika Sullivan and was being used to pay for a hotel room, according to the report. The Wisconsin woman told TPD she has the card in her possession, that it has not been lost or stolen.
Officers located Sullivan and Isotta Dewberry in the room with several small children, the report stated. The couple said their cousin helped them purchase the room by using his reward points, and Dewberry said he “had no idea why that card would be on file.”
Dewberry told officers he used his identification and card to book the room upon arrival.
The front desk clerk said she was new to the job and did not how to access information in the computer system or the camera system. Investigators asked Sullivan and Dewberry to remain available for further questioning, according to the report.
