Anonymous tips alleging drug “activity and transactions” at a Herbert Street residence led to the arrest of three Thomaston residents on felony charges last Friday, according to a Thomaston Police Department report.
Darshay Merez Bailey, 37, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute; Melvin Van Little, 46, was charged with possession of meth; and Nancy Patrice Collier, 32, was charged with possession of amphetamine.
After receiving anonymous tips, Narcotics Task Force Sgt. Matt Allen said he was watching an occupied, suspicious vehicle near the suspected residence. He said he smelled marijuana when he approached the vehicle, and Collier stated, “We’ve been smoking.”
Bailey exited the vehicle, reached toward his front waist band, and tossed a plastic container on the ground, according to TPD Officer Dekota Riddick’s report, at which time Bailey was detained. A search of Bailey’s pockets uncovered approximately six grams of marijuana, a digital scale, two unidentified blue pills, and approximately $200 in cash.
The plastic container Bailey tossed on the ground contained approximately 11 grams of meth, the report stated.
Little reportedly “kept reaching in the floorboard,” where a glass smoking pipe containing meth was discovered, along with approximately two grams of meth scattered on the seat where Little was sitting. A subsequent search uncovered a plastic bag containing about 13 grams of meth in the jacket Little was wearing, according to the report.
When Collier, the owner and driver of the vehicle, exited her seat, police located a plastic container with approximately eight grams of marijuana and a folded dollar bill that contained about a half gram of meth, the report stated.
All three subjects were transported to Upson County Jail.
In an unrelated incident, Arthur Lee Foster was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor reckless conduct after witnesses said he discharged a firearm at 109 West County Road last week.
One witness said Foster was firing a handgun in front of Building 12, according to the report. When the witness asked him to stop shooting, Foster “held his firearm behind him in s stance that [witness] perceived to be Foster about to strike [witness] with the firearm.” The witness struck Foster in the face with his fist and “ran to take cover” while Foster began firing at him, the report stated.
Multiple spent shell casings were found, along with a fired round lodged in the wooden trim of the front of Building 6.
Other arrests and charges reported by TPD include the following:
Christopher Lee Parker – two felony counts of failure to appear in court (theft by deception, theft by receiving stolen property, executing fictitious checks, fleeing or eluding law enforcement), along with three misdemeanor counts of failure to appear and obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers.
Kendrick Donte Davis – possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
No arrest was made in a reported theft of a 2020 Dodge Charger allegedly stolen from Potempkin Village.
