We are conducting housing assessments! - 2

Many local residents have been curious about a group of individuals studying neighborhoods within the city in recent weeks. University of Georgia students and Thomaston officials began canvasing neighborhoods in East Thomaston on Friday, Feb. 3, as part of an ongoing housing conditions survey.

A UGA Housing and Community Development class, through the UGA Archway Partnership program, is partnering with the City of Thomaston to conduct a housing conditions survey in area neighborhoods as part of a service-learning project.

The results of the survey will provide the city with information that will help secure grant funding and improve neighborhoods, according to Thomaston Economic Development Coordinator Taylor Smith.

Students return to continue the assessment, primarily in the “South Village” area on Feb. 18. The Feb. 11 date was rescheduled due to weather.

For more information, contact Smith at 706-601-4520 or UGA Archway Partnership Representative Brittany Standifer at 706-483-3264.
