Thomaston native Marc Ellerbee has been selected as permanent air traffic manager of Columbus Tower (CSG), according to an announcement from the Atlanta District.

“Marc comes to the Atlanta District ATM Team from Atlanta ARTCC (ZTL), where he has served exceptionally well in the position of operational supervisor,” the announcement stated. “He also worked as a member of the ZTL traffic management team.

“Marc steps into his new role with 12 years of air traffic control experience, as well as military experience,” the statement continued. “The Atlanta District looks forward to him being a valuable member of the TETL ATM team.”

Ellerbee, 42, served four years of active duty in the U.S. Army as an enlisted military policeman, serving at Ft. Benning, the Pentagon, and in Iraq. He has a bachelor’s degree in religion from Liberty University and coursework in the flight program at Middle Georgia State University.

He is a third generation aviator, holds a commercial instrument fixed wing rating, has flown for the Georgia Forestry Commission, and has experience as an avionics technician. His experience includes operations supervisor, center traffic management coordinator, and enroute air traffic control specialist.

Ellerbee and his wife of 16 years, Cassie, have an eight-year-old daughter, Ashlyn. They are members of Northridge Church.

“I am dedicated to the FAA’s mission,” he said, “and leading my team with a commitment to excellence.”
