Hundreds of children, teens, parents, and other participants paraded from Matthews Field through the downtown square last Thursday during the annual Upson-Lee Homecoming Parade, themed “Power Outage,” as several hundred onlookers lined the parade route to cheer and catch candy.

During the first homecoming parade since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, looks of amazement, hope, happiness, and inspiration spread across the faces of the crowd in what felt like a picture-perfect moment.

Many young ones, like four-year-old Marlowe Nebb, have never been able to experience a parade before, and little Nebb was clearly awestruck when she saw her older cousin march with her fellow cheerleaders.
