Mrs. Joanne Copeland White, age 82, of North Main Street, passed Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Southview Cemetery. Pastor McArthur Childs officiated, assisted by Rev. E.W. Lee, Pastor Derrick Kendall, and Pastor Fred Blackmon.
Joanne was educated in the public schools of Upson County and attended Thomaston Training School and Drake High School. At an early age, she joined Friendship Baptist Church. In her adult life, she joined Good Shepherd Worship Center in Barnesville.
After her marriage to Mr. Willie White, she joined Mary Lizzie Baptist Church. She served on the Usher Ministry, the Hospitality Ministry, the Circle Aid Club, and in other areas where her service was needed.
Joanne earned her STNA from the State of Ohio, which allowed her to do private duty nursing. She was an excellent caregiver.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Willie White of Thomaston; her son, Mr. Maner (Chandra) Thompson, Jr. of McDonough; two grandchildren, Ms. Chelsea Thompson of McDonough and Mrs. Kristen (Michael) Betts of Calhoun; three great- grandchildren, Ariel Duffy, Elliana Betts, and Colin Powell; four sisters, Mrs. Martha C. Chambles of Thomaston, Mrs. Barbara (Joseph) Kendall of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Betty C. Prather of Atlanta, and Ms. Bernita Copeland of Thomaston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Trice Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
